The Greater Lawrence Community Action Council is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Education Professional to join our team as a Head Start Teacher. Key Responsibilities- Classroom Environment: Create a safe, clearly defined, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that fosters learning and growth.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to ensure the provision of comprehensive services to children and families, participating in team meetings as part of our case management approach.
- Observation and Record-Keeping: Maintain ongoing observation and anecdotal records of children to inform curriculum planning and ensure their individual needs are met.
- Attendance and Volunteer Management: Maintain accurate records of children's attendance, meal attendance, and volunteer participation.
- Positive Guidance Techniques: Facilitate the development of self-control in children using consistent, positive guidance techniques such as listening, reinforcement, and redirection.
- Parent Engagement: Extend the home-school partnership through regular newsletters, Center Committee meetings, home visits, and distribution of training materials to parents.
- Progress Monitoring: Conduct annual home visits and parent-teacher conferences to discuss child progress, share concerns, and suggest activities that support school readiness goals.
- School Readiness Goals: Implement school readiness goals monthly and work with parents to continuously support and encourage their participation in their child's education, from Head Start to elementary school.
- Education and Certification: A minimum of a CDA in Infant/Toddler and a willingness to pursue an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education for Early Head Start Teachers, or an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education and a willingness to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education for Head Start Teachers.
- Skills and Qualifications: Meet current Office of DEEC staff requirements for the position, use of a car or means of transportation for home visiting, written references, and DEEC/DCF BRC/CORI/SORI background checks.
- Physical Demands: This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing on a daily basis, with frequent lifting and/or moving of items over 50 pounds.
- Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
