Position Overview:

As a self-filer of Customs transactions, UFP Industries requires a dedicated individual to ensure the efficient and precise clearance of imported shipments through various U.S. ports. This role demands strong problem-solving capabilities to swiftly address any issues that may arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize third-party software to accurately input and electronically submit Customs entries and Importer Security Filings (ISF) for the importation of wood and related products from multiple countries.
  • Proactively oversee third-party software to identify shipments on Customs or USDA Hold, taking necessary actions to secure clearance, including coordinating drayage to examination sites and managing documentation submissions.
  • Examine commercial documents for accuracy and completeness, requesting amendments when necessary.
  • Monitor and document the status of incoming shipments to ensure timely submission of ISF's and Customs entries, while tracking shipments under USDA or Customs Hold.
  • Engage with freight forwarders, carriers, U.S. Customs, import buyers, and the logistics team as required.
  • Maintain precision and punctuality in all tasks to prevent shipment delays.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Customs Compliance, ideally in an entry writer capacity.
  • Familiarity with Customs Regulations and the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
  • Comprehensive understanding of Logistics and Customs terminology.
  • Insight into the international supply chain processes.
Skills and Abilities
  • Exceptional attention to detail, adeptness at multitasking, and daily problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong writing and grammar proficiency.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Capability to work efficiently in a remote setting as required.
