Surgical Technologist/ORT

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist/ORT to join our team at Northwell Health. As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms.
Key Responsibilities- Implement and communicate the age-specific plan of care and provide thorough reports at change of shift and relief time.
- Participate in turnover activities and room setup for each surgical procedure, including connection of suction, electrical cords, power cables, and electrocautery.
- Monitor each case to ensure all infection control measures are met and all sterilization procedures are adhered to.
- Establish and maintain a sterile field and monitor the aseptic technique of the surgical team.
- Perform sponge, sharp, and instrument counts with the RN according to policy and take appropriate action when counts are incorrect.
- Ensure appropriate and safe use of equipment and instrumentation prior to, during, and post-operatively.
- Minimum of one year of experience as a Surgical Technologist or in a clinical setting.
- Successful completion of a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologist and holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist (CST) credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
- Ability to function effectively in emergency situations.
