SUBFUNCTION DEFINITION: This role involves the preparation and submission of patient claims to relevant third-party payers. The representative will analyze and assess claims to ensure compliance with specific billing requirements of each payer. Responsibilities include following up on billing inquiries, making necessary adjustments, and updating accounts as required.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Billing: Compile and prepare patient charges, generating invoices and claim forms (UB-04 and 1500) for submission to third-party payers. Review charges meticulously and gather necessary information from families and third-party payers to facilitate payment. Ensure that patient billing aligns with contractual obligations, and manage the transmission of claims and correspondence.
- Financial Support: Evaluate payment options from families and third-party resources. Provide guidance to patients regarding their coverage and financial responsibilities. Assess eligibility for state programs and assist in completing necessary documentation for qualifying patients. Coordinate admissions and ensure accurate data entry into charge systems.
- Systems Support: Maintain and enhance departmental systems, including templates and payer information.
- Collaboration: Serve as a mentor for new team members and act as a resource within the department. Facilitate communication between various departments, including Physicians Billing Service and Patient Financial Services.
- Quality: Generate Quality Assurance reports for the division to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field
