POSITION SUMMARY

The Early Head Start Teacher plays a vital role in the design and execution of a developmentally suitable educational program, delivering comprehensive quality services tailored to the unique needs of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the health, safety, and overall well-being of all children in the center.
  • Evaluate children's development and establish goals; create individualized learning plans to help them achieve these objectives.
  • Provide coaching and support to staff to facilitate the successful integration of children with special needs into regular classroom activities.
  • Engage effectively with parents, fostering their child's growth and development; conduct two home visits and two parent-teacher conferences each year.
  • Adhere to the health and safety protocols set forth by the Office of Head Start, including hygiene practices, medication administration, and managing children's illnesses.
  • Report directly to the Child Development Specialist regarding the Child Development Program and other responsibilities.
  • Supervise Early Head Start educators.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Human Development.
  • 90-Hour Child Care Certification.
  • Current 45-Hour Infant-Toddler Certification and Child Development Associate Certification.
  • Experience in documenting client services in both paper and digital formats.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
  • Preferred: Minimum of three years of experience in the childcare sector.
  • Preferred: Leadership and supervisory experience.
