Kleinfelder is looking for a qualified candidate for the role of ICC-Certified Special Inspector to conduct inspections and testing across various projects.

We seek inspectors who are proactive and comfortable working on construction sites, performing specialized inspections and testing of materials in the field.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for the Special Inspector position should possess the following qualifications:


- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction sector as a technician or inspector.
- Radiation Safety training for operating a nuclear density gauge with experience in soil density testing.
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade 1 certification.
- ICC Reinforced Concrete certification.
- ICC Structural Masonry certification.
- CCBD Approvals for All Concrete, All Masonry, & All Anchors.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.


Proficiency in using a company-provided laptop or tablet and familiarity with MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Ability to monitor contractors and report findings both verbally and in writing.

Skill in preparing clear and accurate reports of testing and inspection activities and maintaining records of work activities.

Attention to detail, quality, and safety is essential.

Authorization to work in the United States is required.

Preference will be given to candidates with additional certifications such as:
- Additional ICC Special Inspector Certifications (Soils, Spray-applied Fireproofing, Structural Steel and Bolting, Structural Welding).
- CCBD Approval for Grading Level B or All Grading.
- CCBD Approval for All Steel.
Physical Requirements:


This position requires the ability to:


- Bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds repetitively and over 50 pounds using handling equipment (e.g., hand truck).
- Operate necessary equipment (e.g., ultrasonic nondestructive testing machine, concrete cylinder press).
- Maintain safe mobility over construction obstacles by foot and ladder, traversing rough terrain and steep surfaces.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions at field sites and laboratories with different safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conducting field observations and materials sampling/testing during the construction of various structures.
- Testing construction materials, including soils, reinforcing steel, concrete, masonry, fireproofing, and paving.
- Writing daily field reports documenting contractor work and compliance with contract documents.
- Casting field samples of concrete, masonry, and grout for strength verification.
- Communicating daily with Project Managers regarding project progress.
- Collecting construction material samples and delivering them to the laboratory.
- Implementing the Client's Project Management Plan, Kleinfelder's Quality Management Plan, contract documents, and local jurisdiction requirements.
- Contributing to a high-performing team by mentoring and supporting the Owner's team within the project scope.
- Assisting the Owner's quality team by facilitating effective cross-functional communication.
