Job Summary

The University of Iowa seeks a highly qualified Associate Dean for BSN and Graduate Entry Programs to provide administrative leadership, oversight, and coordination for the day-to-day academic operations of those programs in the College of Nursing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and administrative direction for the BSN and graduate entry (MSN-EIP) programs
  • Ensure overall integrity/quality in the delivery of BSN and graduate entry academic programming within the College of Nursing
  • Monitor national, regional, and local trends in nursing, health care and nursing education to assure competitiveness in nursing education programs offered at the College
  • Lead change in academic programming based on principles of continuous improvement and knowledge of national and state academic standards and mandates
  • Participate in strategic planning for the College's academic mission in collaboration with collegiate faculty, staff, the executive leadership team, and the Dean
  • Lead the College of Nursing efforts with regard to public relations related to academic programs
  • Facilitate faculty shared governance among academic program leaders to assure ongoing improvement and maintenance of high-quality academic programs
  • Provide leadership in implementing the College of Nursing Evaluation Plan for BSN and graduate entry programs through a continuous quality improvement process
  • Monitor evaluation and program outcomes measures/benchmarks in collaboration with academic support staff, and Felton Student Success Center staff
  • Report outcome data on a regular basis to the College/University and prepare reports of outcome data for accreditation reviews/reports
  • Co-lead, with the Associate Dean for Graduate Practice Programs, on preparing the CON self-study and processes related to accreditation and reaccreditation
  • Confirm appropriate accreditation standards are met and communicate with all relevant organizations and accreditation agencies (American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Iowa State Board of Nursing)
Requirements
  • Earned doctorate in nursing or a doctorate in a related field with a graduate degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
  • Minimum of two years of academic administrative experience
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum and/or program development and evaluation, knowledge of professional accreditation standards
  • Record of teaching excellence, innovation and creativity in baccalaureate and/or graduate entry nursing education
  • Record of scholarly achievement
  • Ability to foster an inclusive and welcoming environment
  • Eligibility for appointment as an Associate Clinical Professor, Clinical Professor or a tenured Associate or Full Professor
  • Current, or eligible and complete, licensure as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Iowa upon appointment
