Job Title: Senior Center Manager

Join the City of Midlothian, TX team as a Senior Center Manager, responsible for overseeing the operations of the Midlothian Senior Center. This role involves managing programs and services, staff, volunteers, facility maintenance, budget management, and serving as a liaison to the Senior Advisory Board.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and manage the Senior Citizens Center's programs and services, including establishing goals and objectives, managing programming, rentals, and transportation services, and prioritizing the safety of patrons, staff, and volunteers.
  • Manage and develop staff and volunteers to ensure their adherence to policy and the goals of the Midlothian Senior Center, including establishing standard operating procedures, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Develop, plan, and direct programs and events, including classes, field trips, and activities, to provide entertainment, education, and fitness opportunities.
  • Effectively market programs, activities, and events to improve attendance.
  • Provide high-level customer service, including communication with patrons and resolving complaints and issues.
  • Maintain records for the Midlothian Senior Center according to policy and legal requirements.
  • Oversee vehicle/building/facilities operations, including repairs, janitorial maintenance, security, and safety issues.
  • Coordinate rentals of the facility, manage contracts and payments, and oversee food programs.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing working relationships with other departments, social services agencies, organizations, services clubs, and community groups.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in recreation or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in recreational program facilitation, with experience in senior recreation programming preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of city and departmental practices, procedures, systems, and federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, ordinances, and best practices relative to the position.
  • Ability to effectively supervise staff in a proactive, appropriate, and productive manner.
  • Knowledge of program policies and procedures related to the provision of human services.
  • Ability to regularly interact with others to exchange and receive information, providing effective and tactful customer service, and work independently with a high level of discretion.
Working Conditions:

The work environment is generally comfortable, but may include exposure to inclement weather. Physical demands require working with light, easy-to-handle materials (up to 20 lbs.) with occasional lifting of objects weighing 50 lbs. This position may require prolonged periods of walking and standing, and incumbents must be able to climb ladders, steps, and stairways and have good balance when working from heights.

This position requires a valid driver's license and First Aid and CPR certifications. The ability to work flexible hours, holidays, and weekends as needed is also required.
