Job Summary

Abacus Staffing is seeking a skilled Grounds Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a Grounds Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining the grounds of our cemetery, ensuring that they are well-manicured and visually appealing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance of Grounds: Mow grass, plow snow, water lawns, fertilize and trim shrubs, tend flower beds, and regularly inspect assigned work areas to ensure proper standards are maintained.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate lawn and grounds equipment, including push and power mowers, snow blowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, and other related power equipment.
  • Debris Removal: Remove debris and trash from grounds, including turning down vases and removing wilted flowers.
  • Team Participation: Participate on teams for openings and closings for interments, entombments, and inurnments.
  • Disinterment: May perform disinterment.
  • Grave Location and Layout: May determine the location and layout of individual graves with assistance, complying with verification procedures.
  • Minor Repairs: May perform minor repairs to the cemetery and/or building systems.
  • Safety and Compliance: Must follow safety rules and ensure compliance with the operating procedures of corporate, federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA regulations and Safety and Environmental guidelines.
Requirements
  • Driver's License: Must be able to validate Driver's License with a DMV check.
  • Customer Service: Great customer service skills.
  • Landscaping Experience: Minimum 6 months of landscaping experience.
  • Equipment Operation: Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment, including, but not limited to, a shovel, pick, rake, sledge hammer, lawn mower, weed trimmer, and leaf blower.
  • Measuring Devices: Ability to accurately use measuring devices (i.e., tape measure, yard-stick, etc.).
  • Weather Conditions: Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, bending, lifting, etc.
  • Equipment Safety: Ability to operate equipment in a safe and careful manner.
  • Teamwork: Ability to effectively work with others to accomplish tasks.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with associates, contractor personnel, and client families.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills to enable retrieving and responding to email communications.
