Position Overview

The Student-Athlete Academic Coordinator plays a crucial role in providing academic guidance and support to student-athletes. This position is essential for ensuring that student-athletes meet their academic goals while maintaining NCAA eligibility standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring Academic Progress (25%)
    Regularly meet with assigned student-athletes to assess their academic standing, report progress, and communicate with faculty as necessary. Maintain confidentiality and keep all relevant parties informed, including supervisors and coaches.
  • Academic Support Coordination (20%)
    Organize study halls, tutoring sessions, and other academic support initiatives. Prepare reports for coaches and implement intervention strategies as needed. Availability for evening and weekend work is required.
  • Advising and Registration Services (35%)
    Provide comprehensive advising and registration assistance for designated student-athletes. Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional eligibility requirements while maintaining accurate advising files.
  • Engagement with Prospective Student-Athletes (15%)
    Meet with recruits to discuss available academic services and campus programs. Assist incoming student-athletes with class registration and provide necessary support during their transition.
  • Project Management (5%)
    Assist with various projects as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the academic services program.

Qualifications

A Master’s degree from an accredited institution is required, along with at least one year of experience working with post-secondary students. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years of relevant experience will be considered. Knowledge of NCAA regulations is preferred.
