About ACE Programs:
The Association of Community Employment Programs for the Homeless (ACE) is dedicated to empowering individuals across New York City by offering comprehensive job training, valuable work experience, and a robust support network aimed at helping participants achieve sustainable employment and long-term economic stability.
Position Overview:
ACE is currently seeking a full-time Social Services Counselor. The ideal candidate will possess experience in supporting individuals who have faced incarceration, homelessness, or are in recovery from substance use challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload by assisting participants in achieving their vocational objectives, making necessary referrals, collaborating with case managers, monitoring educational and vocational progress, and providing professional coaching on job search and interview techniques.
- Facilitate wellness classes and support groups to promote mental and emotional health.
- Provide counseling services and connect participants with external service providers for additional assistance.
- Conduct intake assessments to evaluate the eligibility of candidates in collaboration with the intake team.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the program director.
Qualifications:
- Preferred credentials include LMSW, MHC, or similar qualifications in a related discipline.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in social services is required.
- Experience in facilitating groups and classes is essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and internet research is necessary.
- A commitment to assisting formerly homeless individuals in achieving self-sufficiency and pursuing their long-term vocational aspirations.
Work Environment:
This position is in-person and follows a standard Monday to Friday schedule, with hours from 9 am to 5 pm.
Compensation and Benefits:
The starting salary range for this role is between $58,000 and $62,000, based on experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401k, commuter benefits, paid vacation, federal holidays, and summer half-day Fridays.
