Position Summary: In light of an aging population, increasing rates of obesity and diabetes, and a rise in surgical interventions, the demand for specialized care for non-healing wounds is surging. Healogics is committed to extending its exceptional, quality outcomes to a broader patient base through partnerships with outpatient clinics.
Role Responsibilities: Under the guidance of the Wound Care Center Clinical Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator, the Registered Nurse (RN) will primarily focus on delivering patient care and managing intake and discharge processes for Wound Care Center patients as scheduled.
This role may also involve serving as a Case Manager for a designated group of Wound Care Center patients, contingent upon the specific setup of the Wound Care Center.
Key Duties Include:
- Providing comprehensive patient care to Wound Care Center patients and overseeing intake and discharge processes in accordance with hospital and nursing standards.
- Assisting in the vein clinic after completing the necessary Healogics Vein Clinic training.
- Conducting initial nursing assessments, communicating findings to the assigned physician, evaluating wound stages and measurements, documenting care plans, and assessing patient status in relation to desired outcomes.
- Engaging in quality improvement initiatives, offering education to patients or caregivers, and advocating for patients in the coordination of care.
- Performing hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) duties as assigned, following completion of Healogics hyperbaric training.
- Potentially serving as a hyperbaric safety director after fulfilling the required training.
- Collaborating with other healthcare providers, Wound Care Center Providers, the Program Director, and the Medical Director regarding clinic and patient needs.
- May act as a Documentation Assistant (scribe) in line with Healogics policy.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Preferred certifications include Medical Surgical, Home Health, or Wound Care Certification.
- Experience in wound care is advantageous.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Basic understanding of regulatory and accrediting requirements for healthcare organizations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with computerized nursing systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel distances using various modes of transportation.
- Capability to view computer screens for extended periods (4 hours or more).
- Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 75 pounds with assistance.
- Frequent keying on a computer for 4 hours or more.
Work Environment:
- Normal office setting with exposure to mechanical equipment.
- Patient care environment with potential exposure to electrical currents and various hazards (e.g., blood borne pathogens, body fluids, toxic chemicals).
The hourly compensation for this position typically ranges around $30.47 per hour.
