Summary of Responsibilities

The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Specialist is responsible for helping to develop and administer safety and health programs and serves as a backup in responding to emergency calls, such as fire, medical emergencies, serious incidents, HazMat or environmental incidents, and other situations where a safety representative is needed. Performs inspection of safety, health, fire, and emergency equipment to identify safety discrepancies. Assists in developing and directing a comprehensive safety program to promote safety awareness. Conducts regulatory compliance and incident prevention training for safety team members, new employees, contractors, and site employees. Facilitates the development of assigned compliance programs, assigned HSE programs/policies, and responsibilities. Performs necessary environmental monitoring and site inspections.

The HSE Specialist supports the HSE Manager in developing, implementing, and periodically reviewing the site’s HSE policies and procedures. This position focuses on the immediate needs required to ensure injury prevention and compliance.

  • Maintain Fire System
  • Weekly inspections
  • Fire pump and alarms

  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Area Safety Inspection
  • Periodic Inspections
  • Conduct Process Modification Reviews when assigned
  • Audit Hoist/Sling inspections
  • Audit Ladder inspections
  • Safety Supplies
  • Maintain inventory of Personal Protective Equipment
  • Maintain needed supplies for Safety Equipment/Devices
  • Maintain First Aid Supplies
  • Conduct Contractor Safety Orientation
  • Review HSE programs/policies applicable to the task
  • Review plant permits/tags
  • Conduct Safety Training
  • Assist with Monthly Safety Training
  • New Hire Safety Training
  • Facilitate Waste Disposal
  • Facilitate Emergency Response Team
  • Support Yupo Safety Committee
