Position Overview

The Educational Support Specialist will deliver in-person assistance and mentorship to educators, providing insights for enhancement and leading professional development sessions in accordance with funding stipulations. This role encompasses personalized coaching meetings, classroom evaluations, and delivering constructive critiques to elevate instructional methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver on-site mentorship and assistance to educators utilizing established assessment frameworks. Aid educators in crafting inclusive and stimulating learning environments.
  2. Conduct individual coaching sessions, observe classroom dynamics, and provide constructive feedback aimed at refining teaching practices.
  3. Facilitate training for educators on assessment tools and develop a monitoring framework for their application.
  4. Remain updated on contemporary best practices in early childhood education and disseminate educational resources to staff.
  5. Assist educators in effectively communicating with parents regarding assessments and collaborate with leadership to coordinate family engagement activities.
  6. Design and manage educational materials for families.
  7. Adhere to mandatory reporting protocols regarding child welfare.
  8. Foster relationships with staff, leadership, and families to provide guidance on child behavior management and promote positive connections among diverse early childhood stakeholders.
  9. Emphasize the importance of developing self-regulation, social skills, and executive functioning in children to prepare them for future educational settings.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-depth understanding of child development theories and early childhood education principles.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to offer constructive feedback and support to educators.
  • Strong organizational skills for planning and executing coaching and training initiatives.
  • Dedication to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within educational environments.

Education:

A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related discipline is required; or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will yield the necessary specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned duties. A master’s degree is preferred.

Experience:

A minimum of five years of experience working with children in a leadership capacity is required.

Certifications:

ASQ (Ages and Stages Questionnaire) certification is preferred.
