Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at Sisters of Charity Hospital. As a key member of our Central Service department, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department, coordinating the functionality of Sterile Processing Technicians, and supporting the Central Service & Supply Manager in their absence.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Sterile Processing department, ensuring efficient and effective processing of surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Coordinate the activities of Sterile Processing Technicians, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Communicate operational and associate issues to the Central Service & Supply Manager, proposing solutions and independently resolving issues when possible.
  • Participate in department quality improvement activities, data collection, and implementation of quality improvement initiatives, processes, and practices.
  • Assist with inventory management and modeling Sterile Processing Technician duties.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Current and sustained certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT).
  • At least 10 hours of continuing education annually.
  • One year of surgical tray and case cart experience required.
  • Two years of supervisory experience in a sterile processing environment preferred.
Working Conditions

Medium level of stress. Ability to concentrate on task under disruptive conditions. Work environment change due to nature of workflow. Exposure to chemicals. Exposure to blood and body fluids. Required to wear personal protective apparel as appropriate.
