Job Summary

This position is located at the School Age Center (SAC) at Fort Leonard Wood. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising children and youth ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years during daily schedules of indoor and outdoor activities and on field trips, outings, and special events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and plan activities for program participants based on observed needs of individual children and youth.
  • Prepare and implement program options for children and youth with special requirements.
  • Instruct team members in specific tasks and job techniques.
  • Ensure assigned area maintains standards for DoD certification and national accreditation or equivalent.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Meet one of the following qualifications:
    • Possess and maintain a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Military School Age Credential, Army Youth Practicum, or other nationally recognized Youth Development Credential.
    • Have two years of specialized experience working in a group program with children or youth plus an associate's degree or at least 60 semester hours with a major course of study directly related to the age group to which assigned.
    • Have a bachelor's degree or at least 120 semester hours with a major course of study directly related to the age group to which assigned.
    • Have 24 months of experience working in a group childcare or youth program with completion of DoD approved competency training courses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience assisting with childcare or youth program national accreditation processes.
  • Experience participating in multi-disciplinary or higher-level child/youth program inspections.
  • Experience working with varying age groups (early childhood, school age, youth).
  • Experience leading or mentoring lower level childcare/youth program staff.
