The Army West Point Athletics Association Marketing Department is on the lookout for innovative, enthusiastic, and driven individuals to join our team as unpaid interns for the academic year. The role involves a variety of responsibilities, including the creation and execution of marketing and promotional initiatives for all Army West Point ticketed sports, supporting Army Football events, implementing marketing tactics and game day promotional activities, and aiding in the organization of special events. Ideal candidates should be collaborative, possess flexible schedules, and be prepared to work during weekends and evenings. Strong verbal and written communication skills are crucial, along with a passion for sports and an interest in the sports business sector. These positions are available to both full-time and part-time college students, as well as high school seniors.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, coordination, and execution of marketing and promotional strategies for Army ticketed sports, focusing on increasing attendance and enhancing the game day experience.
- Commit to 3 - 6 office hours weekly during the academic year to develop marketing materials, manage in-game music, engage in graphic design, support full-time staff, and assist with administrative tasks.
- Each intern will be assigned two to three sports to concentrate on throughout the academic year, with a requirement to attend all home events for those sports.
- Support the Black Knight Alley fanfest during Army Football events, including setup and breakdown.
- Assist with in-game promotions across various sports, including football, hockey, basketball (men's and women's), lacrosse (men's and women's), wrestling, and others as needed.
- Plan and execute additional special projects and events throughout the year.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited university or a high school senior.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Understanding of collegiate sports and NCAA regulations.
- Major in Marketing, Sport Management, or Business.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Ability to work on a military installation.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
The United States Military Academy (USMA) is recognized as a leading institution for leadership development. Situated along the banks of the Hudson River, it is approximately one hour from a major metropolitan area. The mission of USMA is to cultivate, educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets to become commissioned leaders of character dedicated to Army Values and prepared for a lifetime of service to the Army and the Nation. This internship will be part of the Army West Point Athletics Association (AWPAA), a non-profit organization dedicated to managing and supporting the 30 intercollegiate athletic programs at the Academy. The AWPAA's mission is to recruit, educate, train, and inspire leaders of character committed to the principles of Duty, Honor, Country through an exceptional NCAA Division I athletic experience.
