Position Purpose

We are seeking a Senior Pension Calculation Specialist to join our Pension Support Services team. This role entails ensuring the precise and timely execution of complex benefit calculations. The specialist will also spearhead key initiatives and serve as the subject matter expert on specific applications and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish, develop, and implement best practices and procedures specific to Group Annuity Contracts that align with benefit specifications and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Comprehend intricate pension calculation principles for various benefit structures.
  • Administer contracts in accordance with plan sponsor specifications, focusing on deferred populations and executing benefit calculations.
  • Support system transformation efforts, including testing calculations for existing and new cases.
  • Manage monthly payments, set up new payment arrangements, process death claims, and reconcile monthly files.
  • Assist with complex cases and provide necessary documentation for new payments.
  • Collaborate with the Transition team to onboard new pension risk transfer plans and validate data in servicing systems.
  • Implement automation solutions to enhance system performance and ensure new processes function correctly, including conducting user acceptance testing.
  • Engage in project planning, issue resolution, and accurate project completion, ensuring thorough testing of system updates.
  • Monitor, track, and report issues promptly, providing constructive feedback and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with the tax department to maintain updated state and federal taxation rates in the administration system.
  • Participate in team training sessions.
  • Create and document procedure manuals for Pension Support Services.
  • Complete additional tasks and projects as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in retirement plan administration with a strong understanding of pension benefit calculations.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management capabilities.
  • Adept at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to build trust and foster team relationships.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly.
  • Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet applications (Excel).
  • Familiarity with database tools (VBA, SQL) is advantageous.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
