Urban Development Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Urban Development Specialist to join our team at HWC Engineering. As a key member of our planning team, you will be responsible for facilitating community participation in planning work, communicating planning policies to the public, and preparing action plans that lead to results.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct background research, analysis, and GIS mapping to support project planning.
- Facilitate public participation activities to identify issues, opportunities, and priorities.
- Collaborate with team members to recommend strategies to address needs and promote economic and community development.
- Travel to and participate in public workshops and steering committee meetings across the state of Indiana.
- Prepare interim and final planning documents, including writing, mapping, and graphic design.
- Interact effectively with community leaders, residents, stakeholders, elected officials, and consulting firms partnering with HWC.
- Bachelor's degree in planning, urban design, public policy, landscape architecture, or a related field.
- 4+ years of professional experience in long-range planning.
- Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience with ArcGIS.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Ability to think critically, manage time, and problem-solve.
- Strong data analysis and organizational skills.
- Reliable transportation.
- Competence working well independently and on a team.
