Position Overview

The Engineering Operations team is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Engineer III - Substation Controls. This position entails designing control systems for substations operating at voltages of 12kV and above, typically at transmission levels of 115 kV and 230 kV.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design control systems for switchyard equipment, control houses, and control panel devices, ensuring integration with protective relays.
  • Provide field support and develop comprehensive project construction drawings, including detailed schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Coordinate closely with other engineering teams, including System Protection and Relay Engineering, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Oversee complex projects, ensuring compliance with PSE standards and guidelines.
  • Contribute to the development of PSE's engineering workforce by sharing expertise and knowledge.
  • Support emergency response operations as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, civil engineering, or a related field, or a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Significant experience in planning, design, specification preparation, and project management, typically requiring 5 or more years in a relevant engineering role.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the utility sector.
  • Familiarity with codes and equipment relevant to utility system design and operation.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation or AutoCAD.
