Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Hunt-Guillot & Associates. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and execution of mechanical engineering projects assigned to you. Your primary focus will be on preparing and reviewing calculations, design drawings, and other information related to mechanical engineering. You will work closely with our designers to develop 3D graphic modeling work and support construction and procurement with the preparation of drawings and material take-offs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conceptualize initial design and provide guidance to a team of engineers and designers during preliminary design.
  • Provide estimates of engineering manpower effort required for projects led and provide accurate manpower planning and tracking data during the project duration.
  • Perform various design calculations, including hydraulic calculations, stress analysis, wall thickness calculations, and piping specifications.
  • Generate equipment specifications and data sheets, prepare inquiry packages, complete technical/commercial bid evaluations, generate purchase requisitions, and review vendor drawings.
  • Perform checking of complex facilities and work with the Mechanical Design Lead to maintain project schedules by providing accurate and timely information.
  • Responsible for the content and accuracy of final design documents.
  • Perform initial field surveys to determine optimum equipment layout, facility operations, and safety criteria.
  • Support the Mechanical Design Lead in maintaining budget, schedule, and adherence to the agreed-upon scope of work.
  • Participate in multi-discipline design/drafting package squad checks and perform vendor data review of equipment and components in your assigned area.
  • Support the Mechanical Design Lead in maintaining a needs list of design criteria to support completion of your assigned area.
Requirements
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university/college.
  • 8-15 years of experience in fields strongly related to design engineering and equipment specifications.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices, design details, international codes and standards, procedures, and specifications.
  • Experience with PFDs, P&IDs, and piping codes is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas, Refinery, or Chemical Industry field is required.
  • Experience with a consulting engineering firm is preferred.
  • Candidates must not require sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Proficiency in MS Windows, MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.
  • Candidates must be located within daily commuting distance of the HGA office in The Woodlands, TX, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, or Ruston, LA.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineering registration by examination is preferred; ability and willingness to pursue licensure is required.
