Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Trotter Workforce. As a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and diagnosing problems on various types of heavy equipment, making necessary repairs, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot problems on heavy equipment based on customer explanations
  • Diagnose issues using knowledge of hydraulics and electronics repair
  • Operate hand tools and equipment
  • Initiate ordering of necessary parts for repairs
  • Complete required paperwork
  • Check equipment functions and tolerances
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding job issues
  • Assist in scheduling daily tasks and promoting future work
  • Interact with customers and provide recommendations for changes in procedure or job functions
  • Perform other job-related duties assigned by management
Requirements
  • Current Federal Medical Examination Card
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical understanding of hydraulics, electrical systems, and equipment functions
  • Knowledge of basic hydraulics and 12-volt electrical systems
  • Ability to operate saws, plasma cutters, and oxygen/acetylene torches
  • Basic math skills and ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • High level of mechanical aptitude and ability to understand mechanical systems
  • Technical college degree or structured on-the-job training program
  • 2 years' experience in field service of heavy equipment
Health & Safety Requirements
  • Perform job functions in a safe manner
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.)
  • Know and follow established safety and health procedures and rules
  • Actively participate in safety and health training
  • Bring safety and health issues to management's attention
  • Ability to obtain a DOT card
Working Conditions

This position requires working in an environment with exposure to extreme temperatures, various weather conditions, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. There is frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds.
