Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Sugar Creek Transportation. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical issues with our fleet of semi-tractors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair issues with semi-tractors using computerized diagnostic tools and performing preventive maintenance services.
  • Conduct repairs and replacements of faulty or worn-out parts, such as brakes, transmissions, engines, and cooling systems.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve complex mechanical problems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of the truck fleet.
  • Collaborate with other mechanics and team members to efficiently complete repair jobs.
  • Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices in diesel truck maintenance.
  • Provide preventive maintenance work like replacing brake pads, adjusting fluids, rotating tires, completing oil changes, and servicing the air conditioning.
  • Pursue continued education opportunities to grow technical skills.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping for vehicle repairs, maintenance, and service history.
  • Identify and address mechanical problems and malfunction codes found in the vehicle's electrical system, mechanical systems, and electronic systems.
  • Inspect, test drive, and perform diagnostic tests to determine vehicle problems, parts needed for repairs, and necessary work.
Requirements:
  • Excellent work ethic, listening, problem-solving, and communication skills are desired.
  • Associate's degree from a vocational program, technical school, or community college is preferred - ASE certification is a big bonus.
  • Valid driver's license needed.
  • Good manual dexterity and effective use of hand tools and other equipment needed for vehicle repairs.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent necessary.
