Role Summary:
The Blood Collection Specialist will be responsible for providing coverage across various locations in the Seattle area. Candidates must be available from 6 AM to 6 PM, working an 8-hour shift depending on the assigned location's hours of operation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct blood draws and label specimens accurately.
2. Centrifuge specimens and maintain detailed records of maintenance data and decontamination processes.
3. Update patient information as necessary.
4. Collect and store specimens following established protocols.
5. Clearly explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods to patients.
6. Demonstrate proficiency in using both straight and butterfly needles.
7. Ensure all laboratory requisition forms match specimen tubes for accuracy.
8. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens according to testing requirements.
9. Package specimens appropriately for transport, maintaining the integrity of samples.
10. Adhere to OSHA and DEP regulations and participate in annual training sessions.
11. Respond to inquiries regarding laboratory results.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Phlebotomy certification as required by state regulations.
- At least 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a high-paced laboratory or hospital environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience.
