About This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Prisma Health. As a key member of our nuclear medicine department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Expertise
    • Perform a variety of technical procedures that require a high degree of independent judgment and initiative in the utilization of radionuclides for the diagnosis and therapy of disease in humans.
    • Operate and maintain auxiliary equipment necessary to procedures, including imaging and computer systems.
    • Evaluate image appearance and perform additional views as required.
  • Radiopharmaceutical Responsibilities
    • Follow correct procedures for receipt and return of radioactive materials.
    • Maintain accurate records of doses distributed to patients in appropriate log books and computer logs.
    • Prepare and dispense diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals according to departmental protocols and within regulatory mandates.
  • Archiving and Administrative Responsibilities
    • Maintain accurate records pertaining to exams performed.
    • Operate the PACS system properly and verify studies prior to archiving.
    • Charge procedures and supplies in compliance with governing regulations.
  • Environmental and Communication Responsibilities
    • Maintain a neat, clean, and organized work environment.
    • Dispose of soiled linens, used supplies, radioactive materials, and bio-hazardous materials according to hospital policy.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare workers regarding patient procedures.
  • Instrumentation and Radiation Safety Responsibilities
    • Perform and evaluate routine quality on all instrumentation as specified in departmental quality manuals.
    • Utilize ALARA principles at all times and instruct patients, family members, and other healthcare providers on proper radiation safety measures.
  • Proctorship Responsibilities
    • Instruct students in methodology of nuclear medicine procedures and principles of the science of nuclear medicine technology.
    • Evaluate and document student progress as per protocol of academic institution.
  • Patient Satisfaction and Standards of Behavior
    • Achieve patient satisfaction for Prisma Health by entering results on the annual evaluation from the Patient Satisfaction scorecard.
    • Adhere to the Standards of Behavior.

Requirements

  • Certification Program - Graduate of accredited Nuclear Medicine technology school.
  • 1-year Nuclear Medicine experience.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

  • ARRT (N) or NMTCB registry.
  • CPR and ARRT (N) registered and/or NMTCB registered.
  • SCRQSA License.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • ARRT in Radiology preferred.
  • Experience on Philips equipment preferred.
  • Spect/CT experience preferred.
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier).
  • Proficient computer skills (database).
  • Data entry.
  • Mathematical skills.
  • Strong background in physics/chemistry.
  • Radiation Safety equipment.
