Salary ranges for Medical Lab Technician: $ /hr - potential for a $10,000 sign-on bonus

Salary ranges for Medical Laboratory Scientist: $ /hr - potential for a $15,000 sign-on bonus

In this capacity, you will be responsible for conducting precise laboratory tests that are essential for diagnosing, treating, and evaluating patients, ultimately contributing to our quality patient care outcomes.

Testing Responsibilities

  • Prepare specimens for analysis.
  • Adhere to established testing protocols to ensure precision, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Identify critical, abnormal, and unacceptable test results, following up according to established protocols.
  • Diagnose issues with instrumentation, methodology, specimens, supplies, or results, acting as outlined in predetermined protocols.
  • Participate in test development and the evaluation, selection, and implementation of methodologies and equipment.

Organizational Duties

  • Conduct and document quality control in accordance with established protocols.
  • Notify supervisors or pathologists of any incidents.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, performing minor repairs as necessary.
  • Input patient demographic and test information into the information system.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Monitor and manage laboratory supplies.

Knowledge and Training

  • Assist in training and orienting new staff, students, and residents.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to biohazard, chemical, and sharps safety guidelines.
  • Comply with laboratory and hospital policies, procedures, methods, quality assurance, proficiency testing, and personnel policies.
  • Follow procedures for the collection and processing of specimens for analysis, ensuring appropriateness and stability of samples.

Communication Skills

  • Engage with laboratory and hospital customers and colleagues in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.
  • Exhibit dependability, reliability, and independent judgment in all tasks.

Title and salary will be determined based on education and experience.

  • Medical Laboratory Scientist:
    • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university AND successful completion of a CAHEA accredited Medical Lab Scientist program OR
    • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, or clinical laboratory science AND ASCP or equivalent categorical or MLT certification OR
    • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND at least two years' experience in a role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory.
  • Medical Lab Technician:
    • Associate's degree in a laboratory science with certification (or eligible new graduate) from an accredited institution as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) OR
    • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science, with 6 months of clinical laboratory experience OR
    • Equivalent education and experience as defined by CLIA '88 for individuals performing high complexity testing.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • ASCP Certifications Preferred:
    • Medical Technologist MT(ASCP),
    • Medical Laboratory Scientist MLS (ASCP),
    • Medical Laboratory Technician MLT(ASCP),
    • Clinical Laboratory Assistant (CLA),
    • or equivalent ASCP Certification.
