We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Optometrist to serve as the Supervisory Optometrist at the Dzilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle Health Center in Bloomfield, NM. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing overall management to the Optometry Program, administrative eye services, and direct and comprehensive primary, preventive, and therapeutic medical and optometric care.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, schedule, and coordinate the functions for the clinic budget, development of program goals and objectives, development and implementation of policies and procedures for the effective management and operation of the eye clinic.
- Plan, implement, and direct the clinical eye care program, which may require the application of advanced instrumentation, procedures, and techniques in the detection and correction of ocular problems.
- Provide direct patient care, including diagnosis of visual and ocular problems through external and internal physical examinations for the eye and adnexa.
- Treat unusual and/or complex visual and ocular disorders through the application of advanced optometric techniques.
- Provide emergency eye care, including diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic trauma, foreign body removal, minor surgical procedures, etc.
- Doctor of Optometry degree from an educational program accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE).
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice optometry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- One year of professional experience as an optometrist that is equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level.
- Completion of a residency program in an institution accredited for such training.
The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from Federal service.
