Optometrist Manager

This position is located within the Optometry Department, Clinical Services Branch, at the Dzilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle Health Center in Bloomfield, NM.
Key Responsibilities- Provide overall management to the Optometry Program, including administrative eye services, and direct and comprehensive primary, preventive, and therapeutic medical and optometric care.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate the functions for the clinic budget, development of program goals and objectives, development and implementation of policies and procedures for the effective management and operation of the eye clinic.
- Implement and direct the clinical eye care program, requiring the application of advanced instrumentation, procedures, and techniques in the detection and correction of ocular problems.
- Provide direct patient care, including diagnosis of visual and ocular problems through external and internal physical examinations for the eye and adnexa.
- Treat unusual and/or complex visual and ocular disorders through the application of advanced optometric techniques.
- Selectee may be subject to a probationary period.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- This is a designated position covered by Public Law, requiring contact or control over Indian children.
- A one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required upon selection/placement.
- Confidential Financial Disclosure Form required.
- Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957 and seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Indian Health Service healthcare facilities.
- COVID-19 vaccination is required for all selectees prior to entrance on duty.
- To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
- Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations.
- You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
- Applicants must have a Doctor of Optometry degree from an educational program accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) at the time the degree was obtained.
- Applicants must have received a passing score on the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) examinations and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice optometry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
