Job Summary

The Clinical Team Lead - Psychiatry will work closely with the Mental Health Manager, Chief Medical Officer, and lateral partners to ensure effective and efficient functioning of the Psychiatry team. This role requires strong clinical management experience and a willingness to work collaboratively with a diverse group of professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise psychiatrists in their punctuality, attendance at office meetings, timeliness of documentation, and panel and in-basket management according to SRCH and site standards.
  • Ensure that each clinician has a high-quality annual review in collaboration with the Medical Director.
  • Manage performance of direct reports with regular meetings, including quarterly meetings and an annual performance evaluation.
  • Use data to assess and address burden of work, including panel data, Signal, EPIC, and OCHIN reports.
  • Provide emotional support to providers during regular meetings and on an ad hoc basis.
  • Support the Chief Medical Officer in the recruitment of psychiatry team members and assist with onboarding of new psychiatrists and psychiatric NPs.
  • Mentor new clinicians and participate in relevant meetings, committees, and workgroups.
  • Provide clinical oversight to the Associate Program Director of the Psychiatry Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Residency.
  • Improve and maintain access to psychiatry care and information for patients, community groups, and clinic staff.
  • Facilitate the building of a highly functioning psychiatry team.
  • Organize and lead psychiatry team meetings.
  • Peer review to ensure high-quality, adherence to standards.
  • Work with individual clinicians to address growth areas.
  • Participate in clinic, quality, and leadership meetings as needed.
  • Provide clinical consultation in the development of nurses in psychiatry.
  • Collaborate with Medical Directors and PharmD staff to continuously improve primary care psychiatry competency and maximize effective, evidence-based prescribing practices and behavioral health interventions among primary care staff.
  • Support the Chief Medical Officer and Mental Health Manager in responding to variances and sentinel events related to psychiatric services in collaboration with site leadership and the Risk Management Committee.
  • Represent SRCH to external partners such as Sonoma County Behavioral Health.
  • Participate in ongoing training.
Requirements
  • Active California medical license and good standing with the Medical Quality Control Board of the State of California.
  • Current American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Certification.
  • 5 years of clinical experience.
  • Board Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
  • Experience working with the full spectrum of psychiatric diagnoses and severity.
  • Clinical management experience or training preferred.
  • Experience with residency training program curriculum and ACGME requirements for trainees and US residency training programs preferred.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records, EPIC preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrates knowledge of compliance issues within the community clinic environment.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to report any incident that is unusual or incompatible with accepted clinic procedures.
  • Complies with HIPAA policies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to be sensitive with persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects, work relatively independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
