Job Summary

As a Pilot Fixed Wing, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within an assigned operational area. You will be required to comply with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and General Operations Manual guidelines (GOM), as well as thorough knowledge of Air Methods policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner.
  • Complete pre-flight checks before every flight, verifying the aircraft is airworthy by signing off on the Daily Flight Log.
  • Perform a thorough walk-around inspection of the aircraft prior to entering the cockpit for flight and upon completion of each flight.
  • Have final authority regarding the operation of the aircraft and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with all aircraft and medical systems, as well as ensure the medical flight team is familiar and comfortable with the medical interior and systems.
  • Complete required documentation.
  • Conduct detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards.
  • Participate regularly in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, and two to five years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Maintain a weight not to exceed 250 pounds and be less than seventy (70) years old.
  • Have flown in category within the previous 24 months.
  • Meet Instrument Flight rules (IFR) Program requirements: 2500 total flight hours with a minimum of 2000 hours in category, 1000 hours PIC in category, 500 hours of cross-country flight time, 100 hours of night flight time, and 100 hours of flight in actual instrument conditions in category.
  • Hold an Instrument rating (for category and class of aircraft), a Fixed wing multiengine rating for twin engine aircraft, a Commercial single engine land rating for single engine aircraft, and a First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate.
