Job Summary:

As a Medical Assistant III at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in supporting our healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care. You will work closely with practitioners and clinical staff to accomplish proactive patient management, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Recognize and record vital signs, prevention data, medications, chief complaints, and other pertinent information.
  • Apply critical thinking and observe, record, and report patient symptoms, reactions, and condition changes.
  • Identify and report adverse observations, reactions, conditions, or emergency situations to RN or practitioner.
  • Use data systems to identify and pend orders for prevention and screening services.
  • Provide physical and emotional comfort and safety to patients.
  • Transcribe patient-specific data into electronic systems using current practitioner-generated ICD and CPT codes.
  • Anticipate provider needs during patient procedures and adjust to changes in procedures, assignments, or workload as directed.
  • Perform a wide range of patient care procedures and tests, collect, label, and process specimens as required.
  • Review written instructions and educational materials with patients and families regarding preparation and follow-up for diagnostic tests, medical procedures, surgeries, and treatments.
  • Coordinate efforts with nursing supervisors, staff, and other departments to maintain standards of patient care.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a post-high school medical assisting program with 200 hours of clinical externship, military medical specialist training, or two years of on-the-job training in medical assisting.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment:

This position is located at Kaiser Permanente's Hawaii Kai Medical Offices and requires regular travel to other locations within the organization.
