Job Summary

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to work in our hospital in New Orleans. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing nursing care to mentally ill patients and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide nursing care to patients in a psychiatric setting, including administering medications, monitoring patient status, and documenting patient information.
  2. Supervise and delegate tasks to LPNs, CNAs, and Mental Health Technicians as needed.
  3. Assist the Director of Nursing in budget compliance and staffing guidelines.
  4. Participate in the development and implementation of the Plan of Care in coordination with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  5. Facilitate nursing action in response to administrative directives and a changing healthcare environment.
  6. Delegate assignments to Certified Nursing Assistants and/or Mental Health Technicians and assist Director of Nursing by providing input into their annual performance evaluations.
  7. Participate in the QAPI plan, Infection Control initiatives, risk management data collection, clinical chart audits, and assures that all deficiencies and clearly identified for compliance.
  8. Perform other duties and special projects as required.
Qualifications
  1. Must have Registered Nurse Licensure in the state of operation.
  2. Must have at a minimum:

Bachelors, Associate degree or diploma in nursing with documented evidence of educational program focused on treating psychiatric patients. At least 2 years of nursing experience, 1 year of which was providing nursing care to the mentally ill, OR receive regular documented supervision/consultation from a Masters prepared psychiatric nurse.

  1. Certification in Basic Life Support required.
  2. Certification in non-violent crisis intervention.
