This role is pivotal in expanding our academic offerings in clinical public health and population health, as well as in formulating policies for healthcare delivery systems.

The selected candidate will not only engage in clinical responsibilities at affiliated sites but will also take on the role of Chief of the Population Health Management Division. This position involves setting strategic plans, establishing goals, and allocating resources effectively to fulfill the population health management objectives of the Center for Population Health Sciences and Health Equity (CPHSHE). This is a full-time, non-tenure track position, with rank determined by academic credentials and experience, situated within the newly formed CPHSHE.

Founded in late 2022, the CPHSHE stands as a leading academic center dedicated to applied population health research aimed at addressing health disparities.

The incumbent will operate under the general guidance of the Executive Director for the CPHSHE, receiving assignments aligned with both immediate and long-term population health program goals and administrative requirements.

The effectiveness of the Population Health and Accountable Care Division Chief will be assessed based on the achievement of a wide range of CPHSHE program objectives and the overarching goals of the GW academic medical enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operations of the Population Health Management Division; organize work schedules and tasks to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of priority initiatives.
  • Align CPHSHE Population Health Management Division projects with other programs and initiatives within CPHSHE and the GW academic medical enterprise.
  • Communicate organizational goals and objectives to faculty and staff.
  • Evaluate program goals and objectives to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Review internal administrative reports to ensure alignment with GW academic medical enterprise and CPHSHE objectives; identify issues and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Supervise the activities of subordinates to ensure coordination with program and research teams, appropriate staffing coverage, and effective linkage with CPHSHE programs and services.
  • Provide staff with up-to-date information regarding relevant laws, regulations, and initiatives related to population health, accountable care, and health equity.
  • Guide and mentor CPHSHE Division of Population Health Management faculty and staff by defining objectives and advising on methodologies to achieve population health management and health equity goals.
  • Assess the overall performance and functions of the Division.
  • Ensure compliance with GW academic medical enterprise policies and procedures in achieving population health management and health equity objectives.
  • Participate in senior leadership meetings within CPHSHE and advise the Executive Director on population health management matters.
  • Oversee the development of community health needs assessments for the GW academic medical enterprise service area, establishing priorities for community population health management and quality improvement.
  • Incorporate population health data into priority setting and community health needs assessments.
  • Supervise health services research and population health data management, including the development of health status indicators and outcome research.
  • Foster internal and external partnerships to enhance the collection and application of population health data.
  • Collaborate with community partners to identify major health threats and mobilize resources effectively.
  • Coordinate strategic planning in line with priority health issues and health system transformation initiatives.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a minimum of five years of leadership experience in healthcare delivery systems, health organizations, or population health management. Candidates must be Board certified or eligible in their medical specialty and licensed in the relevant jurisdictions at the time of appointment. An advanced degree in public health or a related field is required, along with demonstrable experience in fostering research and collaboration within large integrated health systems. Successful leadership, administrative, and program management skills are essential, including experience in managing teams, budgets, and systems.

Compensation:
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Additional Information:
