The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer to join our core services development team working hybrid in Denver, Colorado; Beaverton, Oregon; or remote Seattle, Washington.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience working with Java, J2EE, and/or Spring to build software systems and backend services.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing code that is clear, concise, tested, and easily understood by others
  • Performing code reviews and providing constructive PR feedback to the team
  • Serving as on-call first responder for software their team owns
  • Leveraging AWS to transition services to cloud-native solutions
  • Writing unit, integration, functional tests and working to improve test coverage and code structure
  • Documenting software systems and project tasks
  • Participating in design & code reviews
What You'll Do

As a Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing software systems and backend services
  • Collaborating with more experienced engineers and team members
  • Making consistent, high-quality contributions to team objectives and deliverables
  • Responsible for the entire lifecycle of their code: development, test, deployment, observability, and subsequent fixes and improvements
The Skills and Experience You'll Bring

We are looking for candidates with:

  • 2+ years of experience working with Java, J2EE, and/or Spring
  • Passionate about achieving high-quality results and striving to continuously raise the bar
  • Exposure to Cloud-Native Development such as in AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Working knowledge of DevOps pipeline and build/deploy tools
  • Effective interpersonal, written communication skills
  • Passionate about delivering high-quality results
  • Committed to ongoing professional development and learning
  • Practical experience of Design Principles and Patterns
  • Applied Knowledge with unit testing
  • Exposure to Agile and at least one agile methodology such as SCRUM, XP, or SAFE
Bonus Skills

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Ability to learn new tools and adapt quickly to changing business requirements
  • Experience designing and coding large-scale, high-throughput systems
  • Understanding of containerization and local development toolings for Docker & Kubernetes
  • Understanding of Microservices and related best practices
