JELD-WEN is seeking an Environmental Safety Manager to enhance our dedicated team.
Position Overview
In the role of Environmental Safety Manager, you will spearhead the site’s environmental and safety initiatives. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with site leadership to develop specific policies and standards that ensure adherence to regulatory and JELD-WEN Global Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) requirements, mitigate injuries and illnesses, lower workers' compensation expenses, and foster a robust EH&S culture. You will report directly to the Plant Manager.
This position is onsite.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessing environmental, health, and safety risks and hazards within the workplace and implementing preventive measures.
- Guiding site leaders and employees on minimizing risks and enhancing environmental, health, and safety performance.
- Supporting the site in meeting relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Educating site personnel on environmental, health, and safety regulations and the EH&S management framework.
- Aiding sites in executing JELD-WEN EH&S programs, policies, and standards.
- Training line managers to identify hazards and risks, leading the team in recognizing and managing these issues.
- Conducting thorough environmental, health, and safety inspections throughout the workplace.
- Overseeing emergency protocols, including fire drills.
- Providing general environmental, health, and safety guidance to all staff members.
- Documenting injuries, illnesses, and near misses for the corporate EH&S department and business leaders.
- Creating site-specific EH&S reports and sharing performance metrics with site leadership.
- Maintaining precise EH&S records relevant to the site, such as OSHA logs, environmental permits, training documentation, and equipment inspection records.
- Monitoring environmental, health, and safety inspection and audit findings until resolution.
- Assisting the plant manager in establishing and sustaining a site EH&S council.
- Promoting environmental, health, and safety lessons learned and encouraging a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Safety Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification as a Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is preferred.
- 7-10 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety within a global manufacturing context.
- Proven experience in implementing EH&S Management Systems, such as ISO 14001, ANSI Z-10, or ISO 45001.
- Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. Environmental, Safety & Health regulations (OSHA & EPA) is essential.
- Familiarity with web-based systems supporting EH&S, such as Process Map, Enablon, or similar tools.
- Strong communication, presentation, training, facilitation, and project management skills are crucial.
- Proficiency in LEAN and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles.
- Willingness to travel overnight up to 10% of the time.

- Experience in process safety management is advantageous.
- Exceptional customer service skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Access databases.
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating safety and health data.
