Equipment Maintenance Team Leader

Tesla is in search of a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the Production Engineering division at our manufacturing facility. We are looking for a dynamic, skilled, and cost-effective leader who is team-oriented and capable of ensuring optimal performance from Equipment and Maintenance Technicians during their shifts. The selected candidate will manage a team of Technicians to ensure high performance while addressing the requirements of the production floor. The individual will be accountable for all production engineering-related metrics during their shift and will strive to maximize the value generated by each team member while upholding a high level of technical proficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, mentor, guide, and develop a team of Technicians responsible for maintaining manufacturing equipment.
  • Track metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate Safety, Personnel, Quality, Cost, and Productivity.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing team members to establish shift priorities and labor allocation.
  • Lead improvement initiatives to enhance team knowledge and capabilities, working alongside equipment engineering to boost equipment uptime and utilization.
  • Coordinate with the Process Engineering team to manage non-conforming materials, eliminate waste, and support new equipment installation and startup processes.
  • Enhance preventative maintenance practices to minimize downtime and conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures, proposing long-term solutions.
  • Utilize schematics, diagrams, layouts, defined plans, and both written and verbal instructions to guide maintenance activities.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience managing teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Manufacturing Expertise: Strong understanding of general manufacturing processes, automation, and controls, with specific experience in Fanuc robots, PLC programming, and maintaining/troubleshooting industrial electrical systems.
  • Personal Attributes: Reliability, initiative, and a proactive approach to learning are essential. Must be adaptable to various work schedules and environments.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, attention to detail, flexibility, and strong prioritization skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
  • Safety and Physical Requirements: Must adhere to safety protocols, utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and meet physical demands such as prolonged standing, walking, lifting, and repetitive motions in a potentially noisy environment.
  • Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Focus: Responsibilities include ensuring team safety training, documenting EHS incidents, proactively identifying workplace hazards, and fostering continuous operational improvements.
  • Leadership Qualities: Ability to maintain confidentiality, multitask, and adapt to constant changes while being capable of discerning audible alarms, distinguishing colors, and possessing accurate depth perception in the work environment.
