Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Lead Teacher to join our Preschool Program team at the YMCA of Central Ohio. As a Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a safe and engaging learning environment that fosters the cognitive, social, and emotional development of young children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Planning and Implementation
    • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the YMCA's curriculum and program guidelines
    • Plan and prepare a well-balanced and varied program for children, incorporating Ohio, SUTQ, NAEYC, and grant standards
  • Child Assessment and Progress Monitoring
    • Assess each child's developmental needs using designated assessment and screening tools
    • Establish and monitor individual goals for all children, documenting evidence for curriculum planning and assessment
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with families, children, and staff, providing regular updates on child progress and program activities
    • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive team approach
  • Administrative and Organizational Tasks
    • Collect, record, and maintain all necessary information/documentation for student records, funding, and other projects
    • Enter data into appropriate systems in a timely and consistent manner
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in child development, elementary education, or related field from a college or university
    • Previous experience in an early care and education setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certifications and Training
    • First aid and communicable diseases training certifications
    • Child abuse recognition and prevention training certifications
  • Personal Qualities
    • Passionate commitment to the YMCA's cause of nurturing the potential of all youth and supporting healthy living for all people
    • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
    • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others
