Job Summary

Community Action Wayne Medina is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team as a Head Start Preschool Teacher. In this role, you will play a vital part in shaping the lives of young children and their families by providing a nurturing and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate classroom plans that stimulate social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth in children.
  • Conduct regular screenings and assessments for enrolled children to ensure their individual needs are met.
  • Implement the curriculum in accordance with early childhood education best practices, including ECE Content Standards and Daily Schedule.
  • Plan and implement a learning environment that incorporates Conscious Discipline techniques and promotes literacy experiences for children and their families.
  • Monitor compliance with all rules and regulations, and maintain accurate child files and assessments.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with Family Service Specialists and parents regarding screening, assessment, and referrals.
  • Assist with invoicing, collecting co-pays, and developing payment plans for families.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy learning environment, and demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED, plus a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or enrollment in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree.
  • At least one year of experience caring for children in a comprehensive setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic understanding of Child Development and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Written and oral communication skills, and willingness to learn about the position and organization.
