Transportation Specialist

The Transportation Tech is responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation services to employees and students at Southern Ohio Medical Center. This role involves driving passenger buses, maintaining vehicle maintenance logs, and ensuring the security of car keys used by Valet services.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain designated parking areas and entrances, keeping them free of parked cars, congestion, litter, leaves, snow, etc.
- Act as a greeter/ambassador for SOMC and its physician offices, assisting in meeting customer needs and service recovery as appropriate.
- Park and retrieve patients/visitors' vehicles in a timely manner, ensuring utmost vehicle safety.
- Provide vehicle claim checks and instruct patients/visitors on how to reclaim their vehicle.
- Offer directions, parking alternatives, and campus information to visitors, delivery drivers, students, staff, and patients.
- Monitor parking lots and garages for suspicious activity and report it to hospital security.
- Enforce SOMC parking policies and traffic flow.
- Assist elderly or handicap patients with providing them a wheelchair when needed.
- Maintain inventory of wheelchairs and retrieve them from within facilities as needed.
- Assist Grounds department on trash collection days by bundling and getting trash ready for pick-up when able.
- Assist Couriers when appropriate.
- Drive passenger buses to transport employees and students from offsite lots to Main campus and between campuses.
- Assist in maintaining vehicle maintenance logs.
- Keep passenger buses clean by daily inspections and throwing away of trash left in buses.
- Provide emergency backup for delivering packages from one campus to another.
- Utilize proper radio/phone communication and respond in a timely fashion.
- Follow practices that ensure the security of car keys used by Valet.
- High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required
- BMLV required (Must maintain eligibility to drive as determined by SOMC insurance carriers)
- Previous experience in driving delivery vehicles preferred
