About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Cancer Data Specialist to join our team at UofL Health Brown Cancer Center Downtown. As a Cancer Data Specialist, you will play a critical role in promoting quality patient care management by ensuring timely, accurate, and complete data is incorporated and maintained on all types of cancers and certain benign conditions diagnosed and/or treated within the institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with physicians, administrators, and the cancer team to ensure accurate and complete data collection and maintenance.
  • Monitor quality of care and clinical practice guidelines, assessing patterns of care and referrals, and monitoring adverse outcomes.
  • Manage and analyze clinical cancer information for education, research, and outcomes measurement purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and third-party accreditation and regulatory agencies.
Requirements
  • Human Anatomy and Human Physiology (6 total credit hours) or equivalent job experience.
  • One year of experience in a hospital or state cancer registry.
  • Oncology Data Specialist-Certified (ODS-C) by the National Cancer Registrars Association.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
  • Two years of experience in a cancer registry.
