Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and culturally sensitive Multicultural Case Worker for Community Development to join our team at Center For Family Life in Sunset Park Inc. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop their career in social work or counseling while working with families and schools.

The School-Based Early Support Program is a new preventive services model that enhances school-based partnerships in Brooklyn. As a Multicultural Case Worker, you will connect families to concrete services and provide administrative support to the program team.

About the Role

  • Support families with concrete needs as part of a team approach to helping families across four schools in Brooklyn
  • Provide direct advocacy and support to families by accompanying them to access services in the community
  • Complete varied administrative tasks to support the program, which may include case file maintenance, client record requests, fiscal reconciliations, data entry, purchasing, assistance with special projects
  • Assist with the facilitation of groups and workshops
  • Opportunity to learn and facilitate Families and School Together (FAST), an evidence-based multiple-family group co-led by program, school, and caregivers
  • Participate in outreach and engagement activities in the schools to develop relationships with families and school staff
  • Collaborate with school staff, program staff, and other CFL school-based staff (CFL afterschool and Neighborhood Center programs) to meet the needs of families
  • Visit families in their homes
  • Provide interpretation as needed
  • Provide childcare for parent groups and events as needed
  • Assist with the coordination of school-based events
  • Complete required documentation and data entry for client contacts
  • Attend supervision, staff meetings and trainings, and meetings within partner schools
  • Build relationships with community-based service providers
  • Collaborate with all CFL programs to ensure an integrated approach to serving families

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent with extensive experience working with families; OR
  • BA/BS/BSW with relevant experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Mandarin required
  • Experience collaborating with schools preferred
  • Excellent organization, communication, and writing skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Ability to work evenings as needed to serve working families
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekend days to attend community events

Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000 per year based on experience
