Position Overview

The Lead Mathematics Educator, operating under moderate oversight, engages in intermediate-level educational work with limited decision-making authority. This role involves collaboration with the primary classroom instructor to implement effective pedagogical strategies that adhere to established content standards. The educator facilitates and enhances curriculum delivery in designated subject areas for grades K-12, incorporating technology as an integral component. Utilizing the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework, the Lead Educator aims to elevate student performance outcomes. This position involves executing complex tasks to uphold Board of Education policies and procedures as a proficient curriculum expert under the guidance of the school principal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with all applicable state, federal, and local regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with school leadership and the classroom teacher to deliver targeted instructional strategies, including technology integration, utilizing MTSS components.
  • Exhibit instructional proficiency and coaching capabilities.
  • Support professional learning communities (PLCs) in refining classroom practices to address student needs and curriculum requirements.
  • Design, implement, and assess the effectiveness of professional development initiatives aligned with school objectives.
  • Enhance classroom instruction by establishing clear expectations and providing observation, coaching, and modeling of effective teaching methodologies.
  • Conduct follow-up conferences with educators to offer specific and actionable feedback.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of school-based professional development.
  • Assist educators in applying new professional learning.
  • Analyze data from diverse sources to identify student learning trends, establish goals, adjust instruction, and enhance student achievement in line with school improvement strategies.
  • Foster an instructional environment conducive to accelerated student success.
  • Investigate, review, and assess instructional research while aiding teachers in identifying effective subject-specific strategies to boost student outcomes.
  • Regularly evaluate student learning and provide timely, specific feedback regarding performance.
  • Support colleagues in aligning standards, curricula, instructional methods, and assessment tools.
  • Engage in team teaching, demonstrate model lessons, and assist educators in employing effective instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs.
  • Facilitate professional development and participate in related meetings as necessary.
  • Engage in professional development workshops and leadership training.
  • Create an inclusive atmosphere characterized by positive communication.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of curriculum principles, standards, and expectations in the assigned area.
  • Thorough understanding of staff development practices, procedures, and techniques.
  • Proficient in utilizing relevant data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various learning styles, curriculum development, program evaluation, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, and learning assessment.
  • Skilled in using current software applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to learn and utilize specialized tools and software pertinent to educational needs.
  • Capacity to implement local, state, and federal guidelines into daily operations.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong reasoning and judgment abilities, maintaining productive working relationships.
  • Proficient in problem-solving with sound judgment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding educational matters.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently while exercising sound judgment.
  • Ability to create relevant charts, graphs, reports, and records related to educational planning.
  • Demonstrated capacity to conceptualize, initiate, monitor, and evaluate programs.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • A valid teaching license in the relevant content area is mandatory.
  • A Master's degree in Education is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of successful experience as a content area educator is required.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Special Requirements
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License or the ability to provide personal transportation.
  • Willingness to travel to various educational facilities and professional meetings.
