Job Summary

Phillips & Jordan, Inc. is a certified woman-owned, heavy civil and power infrastructure contractor seeking a skilled Drill Rig Operator to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for operating Oruga/Beck, CZM, and IMTor drill rigs to hoist materials and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Learn and follow safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment
  • Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects
  • Locate underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginning work
  • Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met
  • Coordinate machine actions with other activities, position or move loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members
  • Perform preventative maintenance as required to ensure safe and continual service of crane
  • Supervise oiling of the drill rig
  • Responsible for own and rigger's compliance with company policy, safety guidelines and procedures that pertain to the drill operator's job
  • Remains in continual voice (radio), hand, and or communication with rigger/groundsman while operating the drill
  • Responsible for creating an environment fostering open communications concerning safety issues
  • Participates in safety meetings and other rigger safety programs
Requirements
  • Follow safety regulations
  • Follow instructions and meet set standards
  • Judge distances and slopes accurately
  • Make decisions based on verifiable standards
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, and crouch and use hands, arms, and legs fully
  • Must have good vision and hearing (either naturally or with correction)
  • Work dusty or dirty surroundings
  • Pass construction equipment operator qualification testing/observation
  • CDL not required but preferred
Education and Experience

High School Diploma preferred. Five years verifiable and relevant experience.
