Certified Veterinary Technician

The Certified Veterinary Technician will provide leadership and training to the medical support staff in the operation of a small animal facility in accordance with hospital policy and procedures. The successful candidate will provide medical care to patients as allowed in the veterinary practice act, communicate effectively with team members and clients, and possess great attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Responsibilities- Leadership and Training: Provide guidance to the support staff to ensure a smooth shift operation.
- Patient Care: Provide medical care to patients under the supervision and direction of a DVM.
- Client Communication: Maintain excellent client communication and provide input to the hospital manager for 360-degree employee performance evaluations.
- Record Keeping: Record all pertinent medical, client, and case-related information in the patient record accurately.
- Additional Functions: Provide client care for scheduling appointments, taking payments, and checking in clients, answer phones in a courteous and informative way, and provide feedback and changes to the training program.
- Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent required, State Department of Regulation Licensing required, and 1+ years of Veterinary industry experience required.
- Skills and Abilities: Proficient in a variety of skills ranging from laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing skills, ability to demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations, and ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
- Physical Demands: The employee must have the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds and over 50 pounds with a coworker.
- Work Environment: The employee will be routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances.
