Job Summary:

As a Patient Access Representative at Geisinger Health System, you will play a vital role in ensuring a seamless patient experience. You will be responsible for coordinating and performing front-line office activities, including greeting and registering patients, supporting the patient check-out process, and scheduling future appointments as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient demographics and ensure accurate check-in procedures.
  • Monitor patient wait times and communicate changes to patients as necessary.
  • Read and interpret insurance responses to properly assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance.
  • Ensure patients receive necessary disclosure and privacy information, obtain necessary legal and financial signatures.
  • Communicate financial obligations to patients and collect fees at time of service as appropriate.
  • Complete patient visits by scheduling follow-up appointments, including specialty or ancillary services.
  • Process multi-channel messages related to patient and/or physician requests.
  • Notify patients or guarantors of anticipated financial responsibility and collect accordingly.
  • Perform cash posting according to department guidelines.
  • Abide by organizational and HIPAA guidelines, maintaining patient confidentiality and rights.

Requirements:

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) is required. A minimum of 1 year of related work experience is preferred. Certification(s) and License(s) may be required depending on the role. Skills in Clerical I, Communication, Customer Service, Office Politics, and Confidentiality are essential.
