This position plays a crucial role in safeguarding public assistance programs by conducting thorough investigations into allegations of fraud. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team that fosters a motivated and enthusiastic work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
The Fraud Investigation Specialist will:
• Execute comprehensive audits of client files and records to identify potential fraudulent activities. This includes ensuring compliance with established guidelines and documenting findings in detailed reports.
• Conduct interviews with clients, service providers, and third parties to gather evidence and verify information related to suspected fraud.
• Assess the intent of clients regarding potential fraud and determine the appropriate course of action, including referrals for criminal prosecution or administrative hearings.
• Represent the agency during hearings and court proceedings, presenting evidence and summarizing investigative findings.
• Facilitate the recovery of overpayments through negotiations and referrals when necessary.
• Serve as a knowledgeable resource for the public and DHHS staff, handling referrals from various stakeholders including law enforcement and government agencies.

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
Completion of post-secondary coursework in criminal justice, law, social work, or related fields, or relevant experience in social services or investigative roles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in law enforcement or criminal investigations.
- Proven track record in conducting investigations and writing detailed reports.
