Job Summary

This position is for a Surface Maintenance Mechanic in the Army National Guard Units. The purpose of this role is to perform maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of various combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair heavy-duty mobile equipment
  • Diagnose and fix mechanical failures
  • Remove and disassemble engines
  • Perform repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations
  • Conduct readiness and inspections on vehicles
  • Assist in maintaining production reports and recommendations
Requirements
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
Qualifications
  • Experience or training demonstrating knowledge of equipment to perform routine jobs, preventative maintenance, and use of common tools
  • At least 18 months of specialized experience or training in diagnosing, repairing, and modifying complex vehicles, knowledge of diagnostic equipment, and solving complex maintenance and repair problems
