Position Overview: The Head of Aviation Flight Technology will manage the Aviation Flight Technology program at Moberly Area Community College (MACC). This role includes responsibilities such as developing educational curricula, recruiting students, reviewing applications, building industry partnerships, and serving as the primary contact with relevant flight training organizations.

Employment Details: This is a full-time, 12-month role with comprehensive employee benefits, including health insurance and basic life coverage provided by the college. Qualifications: A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience is required. A Master's degree and teaching experience are preferred. Candidates should possess at least three years of industry experience, with five years being highly preferred. Ground instructor and instrument certifications are mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the liaison with flight training providers and coordinate all related courses.
  • Oversee the student application process for program admission.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships within the aviation industry.
  • Organize and conduct Advisory Committee meetings biannually.
  • Collaborate with MACC staff to create an effective course schedule.
  • Develop and uphold a curriculum that aligns with FAA standards and current industry practices, guiding other instructors in curriculum development.
  • Participate in student recruitment initiatives as necessary.
  • Evaluate student applications for program admission.
  • Assist in the hiring and assessment of adjunct faculty.
  • Support grant application processes.
  • Lead assessment initiatives for the Aviation Flight Technology program.
  • Maintain all required certifications.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the appropriate administrative personnel.

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Deliver nine (9) credit hours of instruction each fall and spring semester, with potential for six (6) credit hours during the summer.
  • Provide engaging instruction that promotes active learning and timely feedback to students.
  • Develop and regularly update course materials, including curriculum, handouts, lectures, and labs.
  • Select and provide required course resources and textbooks in collaboration with other faculty.
  • Distribute a course syllabus that outlines learning expectations, major assignments, and evaluation methods.
  • Maintain office hours for student support and guidance.
  • Keep accurate course records and submit required documentation on time.
  • Follow institutional policies regarding student attendance and provide necessary referrals for at-risk students.

Service and Leadership:

  • Attend faculty meetings and be available for student consultations.
  • Mentor new and adjunct faculty members.
  • Engage in committee work and community outreach to promote the college.
  • Support student recruitment and orientation activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve institutional goals.

Professional Development:

  • Engage in ongoing professional growth activities.
  • Stay updated on industry standards and teaching methodologies.
  • Participate in faculty evaluations and submit updated transcripts as required.

Other Duties:

  • Implement policies set forth by the Board of Trustees.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the appropriate administrative personnel.
