Position Overview

SAIC is in search of a GCCS-J Installation Subject Matter Expert (SME) with a strong background in RHEL/Windows Systems Administration. This role is crucial for supporting the Air Operations Center Weapons System (AOC WS) Falconer Program. The selected candidate will be stationed at a designated customer site and will report directly to the Site Support Team (SST) IPT Lead. The responsibilities encompass various Air Operations Centers (AOCs) both within the continental United States and overseas.

The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of GCCS-J, particularly versions 6.x and above, through extensive experience in systems installation, administration, and management processes. A solid foundation in mission planning and scheduling, along with the ability to sustain an existing baseline and troubleshoot effectively, is essential. Strong interpersonal skills are required for direct engagement with military, government personnel, and contractors to address technical inquiries and support meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and sustain the installed AOC baseline, providing system administration support.
  • Assist in major upgrade initiatives, both software and hardware.
  • Offer technical guidance to AOC sites to mitigate risks during transitions between fielded baselines.
  • Enhance the proficiency of site System Administrators and users on the deployed baseline.
  • Support the resolution of action items identified during site evaluations.
  • Facilitate site personnel with:
    • Configuration, troubleshooting, and migration to new AOC infrastructure components.
    • Data migration as necessary.
    • Application performance tuning.
    • Domain policy implementation.
    • Security patch applications.
    • Submission and resolution of trouble tickets.
    • Configuration of the AOC baseline to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Participate in Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) and engineering meetings.
  • Recommend changes to AOC Configuration Management personnel and assist in the Request for Variance (RFV) process.
  • Provide insights on performance and security issues related to AOC baselines.
  • Complete all fielding objectives, including Agile Release Events (AREs) and Critical System Updates (CSUs), within set deadlines.
  • Contribute knowledge during testing and support of future upgrades developed by the AOC Production Center.
  • Assist with Verification and Validation Assessments and other relevant events.
  • Possess working knowledge of supporting Operating Systems, including Windows Server 2019 and 2022, VMWare vSphere, Solaris 10-11, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Deliver onsite and remote GCCS-J installation, configuration, and integration expertise.
  • Ensure the availability and reliability of the Global Command and Control System - Joint (GCCS-J) in compliance with security policies.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with 7 years of hands-on Systems Administration experience; or a Master's degree with 5 years of experience; relevant certifications may substitute for educational requirements.
  • Current DoD Secret security clearance, with eligibility for SCI.
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and/or Unix.
  • Familiarity with Global Command and Control Systems 6.X.
  • Knowledge of GCCS-J Databases, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, Sybase, and JBoss.
  • Experience with ICSF, COP, Agile Server/client.
  • Proficiency in Ansible software/application deployment and DISA Playbooks.
  • Experience with systems such as TBMCS, JTT-CP, JADOCS, and MAAP-TK.
  • Ability to perform effective COP interconnectivity between GCCS-J suites.

Additional Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Understanding of Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), and Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies.
  • Experience with containerization applications.
  • Familiarity with IPTables / FirewallD.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in a high-performance team environment.
  • Knowledge of CISCO networking and switching technologies.
  • Experience with remote file systems, including CIFs and NSFs.
