Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Are you a skilled mechanic looking for a challenging and rewarding role? We have an exciting opportunity for a Diesel Mechanic to join our team at the State of Indiana.

About the Role:

This is a hands-on role that requires a strong understanding of diesel engines and heavy equipment repair. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical issues, as well as performing routine maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rebuild, replace, and/or repair major parts on cars and light trucks, heavy-duty trucks, and heavy equipment.
  • Perform minor repairs or other related mechanical work.
  • Install snowplow blades and make repairs on damaged plow assemblies.
  • Maintain Equipment Management System (EMS) records on parts used and work performed on equipment and orders and/or pick up parts.
  • Service and repair of highway equipment in the field.
  • Recognize performance issues for both gas and diesel engines and properly diagnose them.
  • Inspect vehicles/equipment for damage.
  • Snow removal when necessary and other related duties as required.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or HSE diploma.
  • At least 1+ years of experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role.
  • Driver's license is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of automobile functions, systems, and repairs.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to instruct others in the use of diagnostic equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of appropriate safety precautions.
